2017年7月6日 · Your interest in Gerstner boxes echos mine, Mark. Thanks, Ron, for the plans. Now that I'm retired (18 years come New Years) I probably ought to get started. I just inventoried my wood stock, I have one piece of teak, 12" wide, 9/16 thick and 7.5 feet long.
Does anyone have any plans for a Gerstner Style tool chest?
2013年7月30日 · I do like the plans, but I think I would prefer a chest with slightly deeper dimensions, 12 or 14 inches deep instead of 10. The photos that the ebay seller has are of a very nicely done chest, and I am impressed with its appearance.

He won't even answer any mail any more but still posts.

2013年11月2日 · I remember also making a cold chisel and a ***** punch. Other stuff I don't remember... I had the hammer until a few years ago. I thought I might still have the punch, but a quick trip to my toolbox says no. That class was the first and last time I used a metal lathe until I started my home machine shop five years ago. Greg

2022年2月15日 · In an ideal world. I could use the toolbox without much trouble, but I don't really want to turn this into a project. So I think I'll stick with the PM base. It does have some storage and I think it'll be just fine. Maybe one day I'll upgrade to the rolling toolbox with some steel plate for rigidity and without the castors.

2013年2月6日 · Bob, tool retraction does greatly simplify the thread process. I originally constructed the tool holder described on the gagetbuilder's site. The plans come from the Model Engineers Workshop Manual by George Thomas. I have used this tool for several years and find it a huge improvement over threading without being able to retract the tool.

2012年7月1日 · Normally, high grade felt is used to line toolbox drawers. Kennedy used to sell a kit to re-line theirs, I believe. But any hobby store should carry sheets of it. People use it to put under projects that they don't want to scratch the coffee table or such. Or places that make trophies use it for backing, taxidermy shops use it behind some mounts.
