Max also pioneered the selection of varieties that are extra compact (slightly over half the size of standard dormant bare root plants). The smaller size not only makes for ideal bedding plants, but freight costs are greatly reduced.

PLANTING TIPS. Set plants carefully, with crown above soil level and topmost roots about a quarter inch below the soil surface. Be sure to use a good fertilizer potting soil mix (strawberry plants like lots of nitrogen). It's best to use a well-aerated organic plant mix.
