First off, if you're talking about joining a local session, then I'll agree with the advice to visit that one session and learn their tunes. Unless it's a bare beginner session, the tunes are likely to be different from a standard Top 20 list.

I'd try to get in touch with some of the members of the session he used to attend, and see what are the common tunes, or if they know what tune-sets he led -- somebody might even have recordings (a common practise these days, for learning tunes played at sessions).

2016年2月13日 · I doubt the songs date back that far but I wouldn't know. The Copperplate is a very standard session reel. The Castle Ceili Band goes back to the early 1960s and included some great players like Sean Keane (Chieftains) on fiddle and his brother James on accordion (I have a bunch of his albums and they are deadly).
