Tryon Palace
Completed in 1770, Tryon Palace served as the first permanent capitol of North Carolina and was home to Governor Tryon and his family. Post Revolutionary War. Tryon Palace was the site of the first sessions of the general assembly for the State of North Carolina following the revolution and housed the state governors until 1794.
Hours of Operation - Tryon Palace
Palace Gardens: Monday – Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday noon – 5 p.m. Tryon Palace Museum Store at NC History Center. Monday – Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday: 1 – 5 p.m. An admission ticket is not required to visit the Museum Store; Craft and Garden Shop on Palace grounds with admission ticket
Candlelight 2024 - Tryon Palace
Your Candlelight ticket includes tours of the decorated Governor’s Palace, Stanly House, Dixon House, and Commission House, as well as festive activities and entertainment on the Palace grounds, and just outside the Palace front gates.
Visit New Bern - Tryon Palace
Site of the first Battle of New Bern, March 14, 1862. 30+ acre park owned and maintained by the New Bern Historical Society. Park contains six well-preserved Civil War fighting positions, groomed trails, a covered pavilion, and 36 interpretive panels that recount the Battle of New Bern and the impact of the Civil War.
