2003年10月7日 · Per the architects direction we installed hardwood flooring over a trap door that accesses the basement. The door had carpet over it previously. It was essentially a sheet of 3/4″ plywood with a 2×4 frame, now we added a layer of maple 3/4″ T&G hardwood flooring. The problem is the door is too heavy to lift without rupturing a nut.

2003年1月24日 · For a more low tech solution, you can install a full width + 2" each side, dowel/ steel rod under the door about 3" from the hinge side edge which will act as a full width pivot. It would be inserted into each side of the "jamb". This way when the door opened, it would rest on the floor edge at a 30 degree angle.

2010年12月7日 · The door dimensions are: 1 3/8″ solid door blank with 3/4″ oak flooring 30″ * 80″ size I used Soss 220 hinges, worked great; with a Baldwin 0395 recessed latch ,nice; I have read some posts that used gas lifts to help open and close. But no info on the practical application of. What I need is mounting hardware and info on what type to use.

2002年9月13日 · I would prefer a minimal solution too, except that this is a vacation house and once it snows the only way to get to the crawl space to turn on/off water, drains, water heaters, etc.. will be through the trap door. This means it will be used pretty regularly and maybe by guests and tenants, so I want to make it as easy as possible.

2006年9月1日 · Glue the trap and cleanout in place. Step 4: Level the vertical PVC pipe by loosening the slip nut. Retighten the slip nut, and glue the trap to the vertical and horizontal pipe sections. New glue especially will want to push the joint apart before it is set, so hold it for an extra 10 seconds. Step 5: Complete the cleanout.

Then put a drawer on full extension slides and mount a drawer front that fills the opening, like a pull out for recyclebles. then just mount a piece of artwork to the front of the drawer and the overlap will hide the opening. Pull it open to get what is there.
