The T440 is not efficient, performance is no where near modern laptops, what i meant by that statement, is that in its price range, and the amount of hate for this model by a lot of people, even with all of that it is still better than many laptops with similar specs from other brands.

The CPUs it uses are the u series low power ones and they're not upgradeable. The i7-5600u is a 2 core, 4 thread CPU. That makes the t430 the potential winner in performance, as long as op gets a quad core.
