2020年2月26日 · I do not know what it is for 357 mag. I can tell you for 30-06 as an example. The optimum length is 22 inches. At 23 inches you get half the increase, at 24 inches a quarter the increase. At 26 inches like my barrel you get no increase. 5.56 is 20 inches, .308 is 22 inches. find what yours is and stay at it.

For something that can be carried around, brick or tile is about it, unless you go to a phase change material - like wax. Get a decent scope mounted on it, zero it to your eyesight, ammo and rifle and you're golden for 800 meters with no major problem at all. I used the XM-21 version in Viet Nam as a sniper rifle and it WILL do the job.
