2019年1月29日 · Kyoto moss is mostly an "add on" money maker for bonsai salesmen. There's is NOTHING special about it. It is a form of low-tightly growing bryum moss species. Bryum is found EVERYWHERE, including in cracks in the sidewalk in Dallas. What you're doing is mostly a waste of time if you're actualy going to use it for bonsai.

2021年4月7日 · Suitable moss is usually found growing on hard surfaces - concrete, asphalt, cracks in concrete footpaths, street gutters, etc. Car parks and sheltered foot paths seem to be good hunting grounds. Moss grows everywhere so even urban and city bonsai growers have access to living moss. Just keep your eyes open as you travel round your area.

Any moss can be used. Long fibre sphagnum is usually the choice but any coarse moss will do the same thing.

2022年4月8日 · Just look for local moss growing on sidewalk or parking lots for species adapted to your climate. Low growing types are better for bonsai. Moss growing in exposed areas are obviously tougher. Silvery mosses seem to be the toughest and are adapted to more sun and exposure. No need for sphagnum under moss slabs.

2017年1月9日 · I just purchased some bonsai "super moss" for my Fukien Tea and Jade for relatively cheap, so if it fails....eh. Any way, I have a layer of (I have no idea what it's called) we'll call it small rocks, on top of what ever else is layered beneath. Beneath by the way feels more gritty, like sand but more of your potting soil consistency.

2014年7月15日 · The answer is yes, you can grow plants in moss. Did this for over 3 years with a cutting of a serissa. However, I used our moss that grows on our Cocoa trees, called cocoa moss. Jerry Meislik, did however warn me on IBC that I could get what is called - sudden death, as the moss rots out completely and very rapidly.

Also a soft toothbrush or nylon brush in heavier areas, It will gradually come under control at no risk to the tree! Focus on thicker areas at first and remove the top strands. 2019年10月23日 · The moss I have here sticks really tight to the bark. I can't get it all off with a toothbrush and on corky bark you can damage the bark before the moss comes off. I spray the trunks with vinegar/water 50/50. moss goes brown in a couple of days and eventually falls off without damage to the bark. Moss on the soil surface I leave all year round.
