A New York City building superintendent has been charged with stealing more than $350,000 from a 100-year-old resident of the building where she worked.
The program focuses on helping support the rehabilitation of up to 600 vacant, currently uninhabitable apartments so that they can be developed into safe and affordable housing.
In New York City, only 1.4 percent of apartments were available to rent in 2023, according to a key city survey. And median rent in the city has risen significantly over the past few decades.
