Compared to Gifu Castle and Kiyosu castle is it close enough quality to warrant a visit? (Size does not matter) only the grounds and outside of the castle matter to me.

Good questions!! Gifu is pitched high up and I have yet to get my way up to this mysterious castle so I cannot comment. Kiyosu castle is quite similar to Okayama , looks like a rebuilt!. But is not that well visited (a bit way out) and more vibrantly coloured red. Kiyosu city is actively promoting tourism so you will find it very friendly. There is also a guesthouse/Info Centre just opposite the bridge that one should visit. Okayama has a Koen just opposite so make visiting more enticing too. Hope above helps. :>
